Mom's Happy In & Out Birthday

Whenever we ask Mom where she wants to go
for lunch or dinner, she brightens up and sings
"In & Out!"

This year 14 members of our family gathered to cheer on
the beginning of her 92 year at In & Out.
  Happy 92nd Birthday Mom...
May you will always be remembered
for your love of In & Out Hamburgers
We Love You !

It was just the other day...

Summer of 1984

...A time to remember
how happy I was to be your mom

Life changed dramatically as 1984 progressed

Sad things happened, but it paved the way for
the good that fuels our happiness today

Thanks for enduring the hard times and making
the good times so good...

Love you both,
Mom

December 2008 Christmas Events

Family Christmas Party 6 December 2008
Sara
hosts the event and we all contribute, food, gifts and giggles. Kate greets us at the door...

Denise is followed by daughter Avery. Soon after Barbie and Lee made it and even first time attendee Nick made his appearance. Yeah! Nick. Glad you could make it.

Sara adds final touch to the drinks as the group moves in for the appetizers... soon the area is full of the stories, laughter and the click, click of cameras Ah, music to my ears.

Rich & Suzie put their appetizers together, then pose for the camera...almost.

Time to move on to the next phase...dinner for 30... where will they all sit. Most found room in the living room/dining area once the furniture was moved out to the garage.

This years menu included a yummy garlic marinated green olives (Rich & Suzie). Tasty not too spicy salsa & my favorite cheese broiled stuffed artichokes crowns (me). Sara provided the chicken enchiladas in a creamy white sauce, tamales, & corn cake, corn casseroles (Barbie & Denise) and lots of yummy green salads(Stan & Nancy, Rich & Suzie)...beans and rice (Toby or was it Lisa?). Don't let us forget the many bottle of sparkling apple cider, favorite fizzy drink for the kids (Steve & Elizabeth "Izzy")
Head table is always reserved for my Mom or Great Grama Gerry Davis and my Great Great Uncle Chisholm Brown.

Afterward there was more time to mix and mingle before game time... Elizabeth & Steve decide it's time for some hot cocoa while we wait to watch the slide show.

Another favorite event from my earlier years was gather together to watch my dad's slide show. Doing this with the combined DB families meant we got a bonus with Uncle Chisholm's slides too. This year was no different, (except Roger and Linda got the flu and couldn't make it), we saw some really old ones this time...back when the corner of Harbor and 19th Street in Costa Mesa was still farm land...plow horse and all. That slide got some ooohs and ahhhs. Mom proclaimed it to be in the early 1930s and the property was next door to my dad's house at 1865 Harbor Blvd. (Had to include that trivia)

Now it's time to draw numbers for the gift exchange...oh, what will the coveted prize be this year?

A "mandle?"
Paul can answer that one...something about a guy gift & a vanilla scented candle....???

The laughter begins to pick up a few decibels. Now a few gifts have been opened & Lee takes his turn. Great Grama Davis
has a reputation to maintain and it's a well know fact that she wants no kitchen utensils or pot holders.

Rob always manages to keep us laughing with his one liners. One more time... and it's Nancy's turn...

Things the kids do to entertain themselves ...very creative "pillow people" there Avery and Kate...hot cocoa, and a little computer laughter from Sara's hobby room /laundry room (one in the same for her family of 6) as the boys gather to play Chad's game on line.

.

We love the hot cocoa in
the snowman mugs. Yum!!
