Visitor in the Area September 2008

Sara's daddy was in town ... we met him for lunch at Wood Ranch Grill in Dos Lagos. He makes a special time to visit with Grama Davis each time he's in the area. He retired last year, which makes his visit less stressful.

It's easy to see where Sara gets that big pretty smile.
It's nice for her to be spoiled when her daddy comes to town. Way to go Jim ~ you're a good dad.

Some of the Things I Love in 2008

This Grama is blessed by the beauty that surrounds her life. Not only in the faces of family and friends, but in places, plants, pets and the very special talent of others.

Some beauty shows itself in the Winter...like Lake Gregory snow days...and foot prints in the snow.
Time spent with friends. And hands warmed (carefully) by the fire...










And in the Spring...poppies along the Interstate (out by Sara's) in patches on hillsides. They're a traffic stopper.

















Other beauties show up right in my front yard.
Daffodils in the spring...enough for baskets and bouquets for giving away.

















The warmer weather brings out the color...ouch, some times it hurts the eyes, it's so bright.














At the end of the year we are blessed when Marolyn presents each family with "The Bean Queen of the Year." They are beautifully hand crafted beans that she creates for special occasions...like graduations and weddings and her first Great Grandchild, but they are only presented on Christmas Eve. They are unique in meaning too, like the Measuring Tape Bean Queen that reminds us we grow in spirituality little by little, precept upon precept. The Crayon Bean Queen for the color in our lives and savored childish memories. Can you see the bean in the Bean Queens?


















My friend Jan's Golden Doodle, who thinks he's a lap dog. He's big and friendly, cuddly and loves to hug. Oh, he's one smart doggie.

Grand kids at the Beach Aug 2008

Steve and Izzy (Elizabeth) invited us for an early dinner at the beach. Of course we couldn't pass that up. Off to Little Corona we went again. I love that special little beach.

I hadn't been to that beach since High School (a mere ...uh, few) years ago. It still held some of those memories, ah...memories. They serve us well when we choose carefully while making them.

We hiked way down to the hill and stayed to enjoy the sunset. Mathias and James enjoyed every sandy, cold, exciting minute.





We even saw a wedding party walking down the beach having their pictures taken. Later the bride and groom got caught in one of our pictures. Funny how things happen.

Great Grama's 89th Birthday May 2008

Love the birthday cake presentation!!




Happy Birthday Mom! I remember, next year you want a really big party...for your 90th!! I'm thinking about it. Time is flying by quickly.


We celebrated at Black Angus, again. Seems to be the easiest place with the largest seating area for all of us.

'We,' included Sara's family, and Izzy's (Elizabeth) family, Grampa and me. Tanner was at EFY...

4 Year Old Mathias June 2008

Hey, it's my birthday. Will somebody start the singing, I'm getting tired!


We met at Steve and Izzy's (Elizabeth) to celebrate Mathias' 4th birthday. Uncle Teddy was there too.

Stephanie's Quick Car Visit June 2008

Stephanie's family: Sherry and her family dropped her off to pick up her new car...Shortest visit in history. They came, they saw, they drove off into the sunset. Nice to see Sherry again. It's been too many years!
Stephanie drove back to Branson the next morning.

Birthday with Sara in Balboa June 2008

Well it was supposed to be in June, but busy schedules got in the way. We enjoyed eating (always) at Newport Landing, then headed to Balboa Island crossing the bay on the ferry. Good memories.

Camp Grama: Day at the Beach

Sara and the kids caught up with us in Corona del Mar on beach day. All the cousins got to play together at Little Corona.













New friend Chayse came along and that made for even more fun. Good thing they're washable.























Tanner managed to catch up with his friends from the beach...what would we do without our fons?








We saw some interesting things in the tide pools too.

We watched one boy pick up a 'sea slug'... boys will be boys... not a good thing for the time pools critters.

Chad and Kate shared their boogie boards and Emily gave them some lessons...it worked. They tired it and loved it.

Camp Grama: Day 1

Camp Grama officially began. Parents have all been dismissed and the girls are ready to attack the day...with a walk? "Ah, come on Grama...do we have to? "
