This year Jeff has a new Honda 'something something' 1800 motorcycle.Saves on gas money he says... vroom, vroom...

Kelly and the girls enjoyed
celebrating Jeff's Oct 10th birthday with gifts and giggles. The motorcycle mask was a real hit!
We all had fun together with Dad Jim, MJ and little sister Anne.
Anne's pretty Mommy, MJ, made the best lemon cake...yum... to celebrate both Oct birthday's. Anne on the 8th and Jeff on the 10th.
Oh see the girl on the far right in the brown and pink GAP shirt? That's not another daughter, that's Jeff's wife, Kelly! The rest of the group includes Hannah, with Daddy Jeff behind her and her arm around Sarah. Jeff's Dad Jim is just behind him with the Santa whiskers, Anne is in nestled between Dad Jim and Mom MJ. And on the right is Kelly and Rebekah. Happy, happy, joy, joy... Families can be together forever...
'Doncha' love that view from Dad Jim's deck... I think they call that Commerce Bay in North Tacoma. With Halloween just around the corner, the girls decided to start getting ready. They modeled their costumes. There was the Greek Goddess Hannah (11 3/4 yrs). Groovy Go-Go Dancer Rebekah (8 11/12 yrs) in the middle and Sweet Angel Sarah (was 10 the end of Aug) with the halo on the right.
The dentist gave the Sarah and Rebekah some pretty interesting looking bite-plate-retainers while I was visiting. Ouch! And lucky Hannah has a permanent appliance in her mouth, plus really great looking head gear, but she
decided nobody was going to get a picture of her looking like that... But this grama has to say that life without her braces (for the past year or so) feels really great. Wonder if they make braces for that chin,Grama?
...and just for fun, 'Bekah and Sarah sang their version o
f the YMCA song...

"On the road again..." 10-02-2008 we cruised back up Hwy 395 to Eagle Lake (2nd trip in 30 days), only to realize we'd left the keys at home. A quick trip to Susanville's, WalMart fixed the problem, but the adventure continued.... Once inside we found a nest of tiny baby mice all snuggled in our bed (sleeping bags). At least it wasn't the 3 bears. That did it! I was out of there and into the car. In brisk 43 degrees of heavenly, peaceful, silence we watched stars through the sun roof until we fell asleep, exhausted. How thankful we are for emergency preparedness and the wool blankets we keep in the trunk of my car. Really, thankful!
The rain started while we packed up on Friday. We raced back down I-395 to Reno, drove down I-80 across Donner Pass into a war like storm of big rigs, road construction and even heavier rain. Another exhausting day ended in Davis, CA, where we dropped into sleep at the local Motel 6. Our wake up call was none other than Tom Boddett saying..."Congratulations you won $10Million Dollars. Just kidding. It's time to get up" Needless to say I woke up giggling. The adventure continued as we made our way to Hwy101 and up to Nick's wedding in Rohnert Park on Saturday morning.
The wedding was held on the golf course. Bright colorful flowers cheered up the graying sky. The sun made a timely and blessed appearance during the ceremony and for picture taking that followed. Families once divided joined together with friends old and new to reminisce and enjoy the wedding events. A buffet
luncheon at the Wedgewood Banquet Center on the golf course afterward.

Donielle Mish was escorted down the aisle by her dad.

Pictures were taken, joyful tears were shed and hugs and kisses were plentiful.

Things became more lively as the afternoon progressed. The wedding cake was cheesecake with butter-cream frosting. Yummm

Sisters dancing...Debbie, Denise, Aunt Linda and Monique. Grama and Kristy's husband Patrick look on from the sidelines.

Here we go again..back down the 101, across the Golden Gate Bridge, through San Fransisco and into Gilroy where we met Bunny and Ed for a quick visit at Baskin Robbins....yummy ice cream break. Back in the car driving across 152 to the I-5 and home by again by 1:30AM Sunday morning 10-05-2008
Sara's daddy was in town ... we met him for lunch at Wood Ranch Grill in Dos Lagos. He makes a special time to visit with Grama Davis each time he's in the area. He retired last year, which makes his visit less stressful.
It's easy to see where Sara gets that big pretty smile. It's nice for her to be spoiled when her daddy comes to town. Way to go Jim ~ you're a good dad.
Sure we can't convince you to shave Grampa Jim?
This Grama is blessed by the beauty that surrounds her life. Not only in the faces of family and friends, but in places, plants, pets and the very special talent of others.
Some beauty shows itself in the Winter...like Lake Gregory snow days...and foot prints in the snow.
Time spent with friends. And hands warmed (carefully) by the fire...
And in the Spring...poppies along the Interstate (out by Sara's) in patches on hillsides. They're a traffic stopper.

Other beauties show up right in my front yard.
Daffodils in the spring...enough for baskets and bouquets for giving away.

The warmer weather brings out the color...ouch, some times it hurts the eyes, it's so bright.
At the end of the year we are blessed when Marolyn presents each family with "The Bean Queen of the Year." They are beautifully hand crafted beans that she creates for special occasions...like graduations and weddings and her first Great Grandchild, but they are only presented on Christmas Eve. They are unique in meaning too, like the Measuring Tape Bean Queen that reminds us we grow in spirituality little by little, precept upon precept. The Crayon Bean Queen for the color in our lives and savored childish memories. Can you see the bean in the Bean Queens?

My friend Jan's Golden Doodle, who thinks he's a lap dog. He's big and friendly, cuddly and loves to hug. Oh, he's one smart doggie.
